Reasonable Adjustments: a School's Obligation under the Equality Act 2010

This will be an interactive course with presenters from Harrison Clark Rickerbys Solicitors. Discussion will include when the duty applies, what the duty entails and when schools can charge for auxiliary aids and services – such as 1:1 learning support – and will include an interactive case study. We will look at exclusions/withdrawals of a disabled pupil: what are the key considerations when requesting a disabled pupil be withdrawn because the school is no longer able to meet needs? There will be a session covering reasonable adjustments/duty to staff: looking at the employer’s obligations in relation to staff with a disability, including sickness absence.
