Effecting Progress: How to Foster a Positive School Culture

Every school wants to get better, but creating the right conditions to allow a school to thrive is often a neglected part of change management. This course, grounded in theory, but delivered with relevance firmly in mind, will allow delegates to reflect on what makes a positive school culture, assess the different aspects of culture in their school or department, and come away with practical measures they can take to cultivate an atmosphere of ambition and progressiveness within their staff. The course will use case studies to promote discussion and the sharing of ideas and experiences among speakers and delegates. These case studies will encompass issues including dealing with difficult staff, promoting risk-taking, enhancing collegiality, maintaining positivity around accountability and using a shared vision to get every member of staff pulling in the same direction.
