English: Let's Do Poetry

James Carter will lead an engaging and very practical course to give teachers the tools, skills, mind-set and confidence to put poetry at the heart of the classroom and everyday learning.

'Lets do Poetry' has an emphasis on writing and provides teachers with games and warm-ups, as well as a wide range of poetic ideas and linguistic structures for cross-curricular activities. This relevant, dynamic and enjoyable course will reinforce the fact that time spent working on poetry will also help to develop children's prose writing skills, deepen their understanding of the written word and further help them to become competent, confident and creative language users.

This is an engaging and very practical course which provides teachers with games and warm-ups, as well as a wide range of poetric ideas and linguistic structures for cross-curricular activities, ultimately showing that all it takes is six or so poetic forms with which to create language-rich and expressive responses to all the topic work that Primary/Prep schools cover throughout the year.
