MFL: Encouraging Modern Language Learners to use Spontaneous Speech

Delegates will explore how to focus their planning to incorporate theory into practice: phonics; questions;
pictures; routines, and pairs and groups, and then plan a sequence of three lessons. the day will be split into
two sections. In the morning Dr. Hawkes will discuss the theory and research underpinning the principles of
spontaneous speech: also known as the five Cs. This will be followed by exploring how to focus your planning
to incorporate theory into practice: phonics, questions, pictures, routines, pairs and groups. The afternoon
session will involve delegates planning a sequence of three lessons, building in opportunities for progressive
talk followed by a presentation of lesson planning. This will lead to an opportunity for discussion and questions.
