Music: differentiation and curricula planning in class music – a new approach to an old problem

Classroom music teachers in many prep schools are familiar with the problem of having to address groups of children with widely differing levels of musical knowledge and expertise. The first part of this course will enable you to explore a new approach to differentiation, drawing on recent research carried out by the course leader, Christopher Gayford. The second part of the course will focus on planning the curriculum, with a special focus on younger children’s learning, prior to the point where differentiation is usually necessary.
