The Championship tournament is best suited to experienced players.
This tournament will be played over seven rounds across two days.
The time control will be 45 minutes per player.
Games in all these sections will be ECF graded.

U11-U13 competitions

The U11/U12/U13 section is for players who are not experienced enough to play in the Championship section.
This tournament will be played over seven rounds across two days.
The time control will be 45 minutes per player.
Games in all these sections will be ECF graded.

U8-U10 competitions

The U8, U9 and U10 sections will have their own age tournament on day one and will then be divided up into A, B and C sections for day two, based on their day one performance.
On day one competitors will play four rounds (1 hour per round).
On day two competitors will play five rounds (1 hour per round).

Competitor details
Once you have booked, you will be asked to provide some details about your competitors before the event. In line with GDPR, only essential information is collected in order to be able to organise the sports event.

All competitors must attend an IAPS School.

Competitors ages must be taken from 1st September 2021. 

Competitors may only enter one age group per competition.

Only a member of school staff, with a school email address, can book onto IAPS sports events online.

Bookings are made on a first come, first served basis.

Schools must read and accept the Terms and Conditions before booking for an event.

IAPS is committed to protecting your personal data. Data will be processed for the purposes of responding to requests to enter and participate in IAPS sport events. The Association has a legitimate interest for processing basic and sensitive personal data and will only process and keep the minimum required data to organise and run events safely. IAPS will only share your data with third parties where necessary to do so to compete in an IAPS sporting event and to meet National Governing Bodies regulations. A full risk assessment is carried out between IAPS and host venues for each event.

Rules and regulations

The national governing body for chess in England is the English Chess Federation.

All IAPS chess championships are conducted under the English Chess Federation rules.

Please read the rules and regulations in full before entering the event.
