When does it take place?
The Hockey Championships take place in the Spring term.
Age groups
U11, U12 and U13 tournaments.
U11 teams may have a maximum of 2 girls as part of the squad. However, the girls must not have already played in the U11 girls' competitions in the Autumn term.
U12 and U13 teams must consist of boys only.
This is in accordance with the NGB's rules and regulations.
Eligibility
Pupils can only take part in one age group throughout the whole competition. The competition is defined as both qualifying events and the finals.
Competitor details
Once you have booked, you will be asked to provide some details about your competitors before the event. In line with GDPR, only essential information is collected in order to be able to organise the sports event.
2022/2023 competition
The details of 2022/23 competition are yet to be confirmed.
For events in the Autumn term, bookings will open during the Summer term preceding it.
For events in the Spring term, bookings will open during the Autumn term.
For events in the Summer term, bookings will open during the Spring term.
Team size
All tournaments are 7-a-side.
Squads of 10 players max.
Umpires
Schools must provide an umpire for the tournament. You will not be required to umpire your own team, unless otherwise advised.
Draws
All draws are created by IAPS after the closing date.
Qualifying for the finals
Schools must enter a qualifier in order to reach the finals.
The number of teams qualifying for the finals is determined by IAPS based on the total number of entries and qualifying events.
2022/2023 competition

This is a standalone event to increase participation.

Over age players policy
If you have a pupil who is out of age and wishes to play Hockey with their year group, you can apply directly to England Hockey for approval to play out of age.
