When does it take place?
The football championships will take place in the spring term.
Age groups
There is an U11 competition, an U13 competition and an U11 Small Schools competition for those with less than 30 boys across year 5 and 6.
Eligibility
Pupils can only participate in one age group throughout the competition. The competition is defined as both qualifying events and the finals.
Refereeing at IAPS events
Qualifiers
Schools must provide a competent and confident referee, unless otherwise advised.
Finals
At all finals, where possible, neutral referees will be provided.
Schools should be prepared to provide a referee for the finals.
Competitor details
Once you have booked, you will be asked to provide some details about your competitors before the event. In line with GDPR, only essential information is collected in order to be able to organise the sports event.
2022/2023 competition
The 2022/2023 qualifying events are taking place at various venues across the country between 21/09/2022 and 03/11/2022.
The 2022/2023 national final will be taking place at Millfield Prep School on 27 November 2022.
For events in the Autumn term, bookings will open during the Summer term preceding it.
For events in the Spring term, bookings will open during the Autumn term.
For events in the Summer term, bookings will open during the Spring term.
Team size
All tournaments are 7-a-side.
Squads of 10 players maximum.
Draws
All draws are created by IAPS after the closing date
Referees
Schools must provide a referee for the qualifying tournaments.
You will not be required to referee your own team, unless otherwise advised.
Neutral referees will be provided for the finals.
Qualifying for the finals
Schools must enter a regional qualifier in order to qualify for the finals.
The number of teams qualifying for the finals is determined by IAPS based on the total number of entries and qualifying events.

The 2022/2023 national final will be taking place at Culford School on 20 November 2022.

Schools must have less than 30 boys in years 5 & 6 combined.
This is in line with our other small school competitions.
You will be asked to confirm the number of pupils at your school in years' 5 & 6 on the booking form.
Draws
All draws are created by IAPS after the closing date
Referees
Schools must provide a referee.
You will not be required to referee your own team, unless otherwise advised.
The national governing body for football in England is the Football Association.
All IAPS football tournaments are conducted under the FA rules and regulations, including their ruling on gender splits within tournaments.
Girls can play in this competition, there is no limit to the number of girls who can play in the team.This is in accordance with the NGB's rules and regulations.
