 When does it take place?

The U11 and U13 Rugby festivals take place in the Autumn term.
The Small Schools festival takes place in the Spring term.

Age groups

U11 - As per RFU guidelines, squads can be mixed gender.
U13 - As per RFU guidelines, squads must be made up of boys only.

Eligibility

Pupils can only participate in one age group throughout the competition and must follow the RFU guidelines.

Refereeing at IAPS events

Qualifiers

Schools must provide a competent and confident referee, unless otherwise advised.

Finals

At all finals, where possible, neutral referees will be provided.

Schools should be prepared to provide a referee for the finals.

Competitor details
Once you have booked, you will be asked to provide some details about your competitors before the event. In line with GDPR, only essential information is collected in order to be able to organise the sports event.

 

U11

2022/2023 competition

The 2022/2023 festivals will be taking place at various venues across the country between 30/09/2022 and 03/12/2022.

For events in the Autumn term, bookings will open during the Summer term preceding it.
For events in the Spring term, bookings will open during the Autumn term.
For events in the Summer term, bookings will open during the Spring term.

Format

As per RFU guidelines, this is a festival with no scores published and no prizes awarded reflective of results.

Team size

9-a-side, with squads of 12 players maximum.
Teams can be made up of both girls and boys.

Draws

All draws are created by IAPS after the closing date

Referees

Schools should provide a referee.
You will not be required to referee your own team, unless otherwise advised.

U13

Small schools (U13)

2022/2023 competition

Bookings will open on Tuesday, 13 September 2022 at 0900.
Bookings will close on Friday, 2 December 2022 at 1700.

A "Book Now" button will appear on the left. You will select the qualifier that you wish to attend. 

For events in the Autumn term, bookings will open during the Summer term preceding it.
For events in the Spring term, bookings will open during the Autumn term.
For events in the Summer term, bookings will open during the Spring term.

Format

This is a standalone event to increase participation.
All teams will compete in either a round robin format or a group stage before having a final game against a similarly ranked team.

Team size

All tournaments are 7-a-side, with squads of 12 players maximum.
Teams can only be made up of boys. 
Schools must have less than 20 boys in years 8.
You will be asked to confirm the number of pupils at your school in year 8 on the booking form.

Draws

All draws are created by IAPS after the closing date

Referees

Schools should provide a referee.
You will not be required to referee your own team, unless otherwise advised.

Rules and regulations

The national governing body for rugby is England Rugby.

All IAPS rugby tournaments are conducted under the England Rugby rules and regulations, including their ruling on gender splits within tournaments.

All Rugby tournaments will follow the 1/2 game rule as recommended by the RFU. For more information click here.
