IAPS members can potentially benefit from membership of a union. IAPS recommends you are a member of a union which supports headteachers in their professional role. This is not compulsory to gain or retain membership of IAPS.
It is a matter personal choice for headteachers which union you may wish to be part of, and as such, we would advise researching what each organisation offers its members and which organisation may best suit your current position.
The two main unions in operation are;
ASCL - Association of School and College Leaders
ASCL website or call 0116 299 1122 to speak to an advisor
NAHT - National Association of Head Teachers
NAHT website , or call 0300 303 0333 to speak to an advisor
Members of IAPS are offered a discounted rate for the NAHT on an annual ongoing basis (as detailed in the subscriptions information), ASCL also frequently offer a range of discounts to new members joining them.
