Geography: Fostering the geographical love of learning through creativity

11 June 2024 10am – 4pm Subject Royal Geographical Society, SW7 2AR

This course will provide effective and practical ideas on how geography can be brought to life in the classroom by engaging pupils using creative and exciting resources which enhance both the teaching and learning of geographical concepts and ideas. The course is designed to give teachers some excellent creative resources which can be used as a starter or plenary to a lesson. The course will be principally led by Karen Corfield, who currently works as an Education Travel Manager for Discover the World. She has worked in partnership with the Geographical Association and has been an experienced Head of Geography.

Delegates are advised to bring resources/ideas/examples as there is a designated 30 minute slot to allow individuals to share good practise on their use of creative resources to enhance the teaching and learning of geography in the classroom. There will be an opening presentation from Simon Lewis on the updates to the Common Entrance and some preliminary feedback from the exam.
