Thinking for themselves: Promoting independent learning with metacognitive strategies

14 May 2024 9am – 12pm Subject Online

In this interactive professional learning workshop, delegates will be exploring how they can put metacognitive ideas into practice in their classrooms. Our focus for the session will be helping learners to become better thinkers who can engage with the curriculum more effectively. Attendees will be provided with strategies that enable children to take more ownership of their own learning. These universal approaches can be applied across subjects and age groups. We will explore the broad domain of metacognition and will continuously refer to the current research literature. Attendees will be given a toolkit of resources and strategies that can immediately be put to use in their classrooms.
