Taunton Prep pupils claimed no less than six titles at the recent 2023 British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships

The 2023 British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships proved to be rich pickings for pupils at Taunton Prep as they claimed no less than six titles at the recent event in Redditch.

No less than 37 children from Taunton qualified for the event – amongst the highest number of pupils entered by any school in the UK.

Both the U9 and U10 boys and the U9 girls were crowned winners in the team events, while three pupils picked up national titles in the individual competitions: Bella O’D and Harry F in the in the U9s, and JJ Wells in the U11 event.

The competition featured a separate swim and run, with athletes competing in their school year group having qualified at a regional or local event during the autumn and winter months.

Shaun Winsor, head of Taunton Prep sport said: “This was an amazing experience for everyone who took part - there were more than 1,200 athletes competing and we picked up six awards.

“To come away with so many national winners is testament to the levels of effort the pupils put into their sport over the year.

“I am so proud of our students and what they managed to achieve.”
