Taunton School has already achieved great success early into their cricket season.
A Year 8 Taunton School sports scholarship student has been awarded a place on the Somerset Emerging Players Programme. Megan, who is 12-years-old, has become the youngest player by four years to join the coveted county cricket pathway. She is the latest Taunton School student to join the County Academy.
Pete Sanderson, Taunton School Director of Cricket, said: “We are delighted for Megan – her success is well-deserved and reflects the hard work and dedication that she and all our players, both girls and boys, give to the sport here at Taunton School.”
The news comes as the school’s U15 girls team celebrate winning the county Lady Taverners indoor cricket final.
“Girls’ cricket is going from strength to strength at Taunton School,” said Mr Sanderson. “Our strong cricketing heritage and our top team of coaches means that everyone has the opportunity to play the game and everyone – whatever their level - has a chance to find their exceptional.”
Alongside the girls’ successes, five other Taunton School players went through months of rigorous training before joining of the Somerset County U15 side on a tour to Sri Lanka last month.
