About us

Churcher’s College Junior School occupies an attractive site in Liphook, some 8 miles from the main college in Petersfield. Whilst geographically separated, the two schools share the same ethos under a common leadership. Within the context of a caring and friendly environment, and through exposure to a broad range of activities and experiences, we aim to develop children’s self-confidence, respect for others and an enjoyment of the educational process.

Churcher's College GCSE Examination Results 2024

As athletes who enjoyed Olympic glory in Paris find, the better you become, the harder it is to get better, to achieve personal bests, but, despite this, personal bests still keep coming at Churcher’s College.

With around a quarter of exams at gold medal winning grade 9 and over 50% of all exams grade 9 and 8, this year’s GCSE results for Churcher’s bring many a smile to many a face and better-than-ever levels of success.

With such stunning achievements at GCSE, and on the back of hugely impressive A Level results, demand for places in the Sixth Form at Churcher’s College remains exceptionally high but it is not just about academic results.

Just after they had clearly performed so well in the exam hall, over two hundred Churcher’s musicians were on the professional stage in London at Cadogan Hall enjoying standing ovations; and over the summer there were expeditions to Mozambique, Eswatini and Norway, a team was completing the Welsh 3000s, the choir was performing on stage at Disneyland Paris, there was national recognition for our drama and art and, after all the regional and national sporting success of last year, pre-season training is just about to begin for the coming year. So much to celebrate; whether success inside the classroom is as a consequence of all that is happening outside or vice-versa there is no doubt that, once again, there have been gold medal performances aplenty at Churcher’s College; just rewards for all the energy and endeavour that is a hallmark of life at Churcher’s.

Another day with so much joy and reward for all at Churcher’s!

Churcher’s College A Level Results August 2024

There will be few who might suggest that Paris and the Olympics were the curtain-raiser to the A Level exam results day but, as one online newspaper suggested, there are similarities. As with the Olympics, years of hard work come to fruition as A Level students open their results, hoping for a place on the medal podium and richly deserved applause for their achievements; just reward for all their talents but especially their efforts.

It is certainly a bumper year of the equivalent of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, A*, A and B grades, for the Churcher’s College students, with more achieving these top three grades than ever before, laying aside the three years of COVID adjustments.

Just as the GB Olympic team can share the glory of the team performance, it is the success of the individual athletes that is most worthy of celebration. Likewise, along with the joy of the overall school results, the individual Churcher’s students have absolutely excelled themselves. There were six students with at least three ‘gold medals’, A* exam results; a further twenty with two A* grades from their three exams and fifty with nothing lower than A* and A grades.

If there was a grade or medal above gold then Churcher’s College student Louisa Moor would be awarded that; the Oxford, Cambridge and the Royal Society of Arts examination board have written to congratulate her on achieving one of the top grades in the country in her Fine Art exam, and that says nothing of the A* grades she achieved in Biology, Chemistry and her Extended Project Qualification. Joel Ireland would join Louisa on that top step with his four A* grades, a place he is accustomed to as a national award-winning gymnast, cake decorator and public speaker.

Huge enterprise and endeavour with just reward inside and outside the classroom, that is a hallmark of Churcher’s College; the breadth and depth of achievement here heralds huge success beyond school for the Churcher’s College students. Paris and Petersfield, so much and so many to celebrate!

New Permissive Path for the Petersfield Community

On 19 June, Petersfield Town Mayor Councillor JC Crissey joined Simon Williams, Headmaster of Churcher’s College to officially open the first section of a new permissive path for the Petersfield Community.

The new path will provide a link for the Petersfield Community with the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) Serpent Trail and is located at the rear of Penns Place by the River Rother. The purpose of the path project is to replace uneven field and grass with a firm path that will enable easier access for all. Additionally, it will be accessible throughout the year, whatever the weather, rather than becoming a muddy bog in winter months.

Part of a three-year project, the community path venture has been possible thanks to a funding partnership between SDNPA and Churcher’s College. The first section has taken months to plan and two days' solid work from over 100 Churcher’s students from the Third Year (Year 9) and Lower Sixth (Year 12) alongside several staff members, all headed up by Churcher’s teacher and Green Team guru, Tony Ostersen.

Simon Williams, Headmaster, said: “Churcher’s College is always delighted to contribute to the Petersfield community to which we belong. This project enabled our students to put their path building skills to use again; we have previously built community paths at Merritt’s Meadow and around the Petersfield Heath Pond. When the need was identified for an accessible permissive path at Penns Place, we leapt at the chance to take on the project. We will be back over the next two years to complete the remaining sections for Petersfield to enjoy.”

The new path runs through Petersfield’s new Tercentenary Wood, planted by Churcher’s College in 2022 as part of the school’s 300th anniversary celebrations. Churcher’s students were also able to carry out some essential tree maintenance on the 1800 trees, which represent a wide range of English varieties, ensuring the wood continues to flourish and grow.
