About us

Churcher’s College Junior School occupies an attractive site in Liphook, some 8 miles from the main college in Petersfield. Whilst geographically separated, the two schools share the same ethos under a common leadership. Within the context of a caring and friendly environment, and through exposure to a broad range of activities and experiences, we aim to develop children’s self-confidence, respect for others and an enjoyment of the educational process.

Churcher’s College is delighted to announce the appointment of Will Scott as its new Headmaster, effective September 2026. Following a rigorous selection process involving the full Board of Governors and the existing leadership team, Mr. Scott was chosen for his extensive leadership experience and commitment to delivering a broad, high-quality education.

Will Scott brings a wealth of expertise to Churcher’s College, currently serving as Principal of Dame Allan’s Schools in Newcastle upon Tyne. Mr. Scott’s leadership has been marked by significant improvements in academic standards, co-curricular opportunities, and school facilities.

Born in Omagh, County Tyrone, and educated in Dublin and Edinburgh, Will Scott studied Economics at the University of St Andrews. My goal is to preserve and strengthen the school’s ethos while guiding it confidently through the challenges of a changing world. I look forward to working closely with staff, pupils, parents, governors, and alumni to continue providing an exceptional education."

Mr. Scott and his family are excited about their move to Churcher’s College and look forward to becoming part of the vibrant school community.

GCSE Examination Results 2025

Nature has a tendency to move towards balance and so, after our record-breaking A Level results, we had assumed that there would be a little less sunshine on our GCSE results here at Churcher’s; but far from it!

Laying COVID adjusted years aside, our Grade 9 level, and our Grade 8 plus 9 percentages are personal bests; another year of huge reward for all the Year 11 pupils at Churcher’s and another year with cause for great celebration.

What makes these results even more spectacular is that they are accompanied by huge achievements outside the classroom as well as inside: for example, Leo, who appears in the new Disney Snow White film, achieved a quite exceptional 11 out of 11 GCSEs at Grade 9, and he was not alone in enjoying a clean sweep of the top grade; Charlie, who recently represented Wales in the girls’ U18 Six Nations rugby tournament, averaged close to Grade 8 in her exams and, at a time when there is much in the press about Ukraine, it was delightful to note that Grisha and Varvara, two of the Ukrainian children we look after here, overcame so many hardships and both also achieved close to an average of Grade 8 across their 11 or 10 GCSE exams. Now that is quite exceptional.

Certainly, another day with so much joy and reward for all at Churcher’s!

Churcher’s College A Level Results August 2025

Churcher’s College A Level Results August 2025

It is a challenge to know which of Churcher’s College successes over the summer deserves most applause: the two Churcher’s swim-teams that successfully conquered the English Channel crossing; the orchestra and jazz band who enjoyed standing ovations on their tour to Barcelona; our rugby and netball successes in South Africa, a second year running when one of our A Level artists is recognised as being one of the very best in the country; or a set of A Level exam results that, yet again, break records. Laying aside the three years of COVID adjustments, we have reached new heights with 90% of all the exams being graded at A* to B grade and also being almost at the top with our A* and A Grades.

Amongst the catalogue of personal success stories of the 169 in our A Level cohort, there are 12 students who have achieved three or more A* grades with three achieving a clean sweep in four A Levels. Once again, there will be Churcherians heading off to the most prestigious universities across the UK and a few now venturing to universities abroad. Their exceptional A Level grades are golden passports to those top destinations but, of course, more is needed to make a success of university or beyond and this is where all the experiences and achievements outside the classroom come into play.

The self-confidence that comes from overcoming huge challenges such as swimming across the Channel; the self-discipline that develops from learning a musical instrument and the teamwork from performing on the international stage; the problem-solving and creative skills that are behind a prize-winning artist’s achievements, and many other life skills that are critical to success. It is the Churcherian enthusiasm to embrace all the opportunities inside and outside the classroom that brings such reward and the very well-deserved applause, and sets them up so well beyond their school days.

Simon Williams, Headmaster
