Time to Write is back!
We are thrilled to announce that following the success of the ISEB and IAPS Time to Write 2025 creative writing competition, the initiative returns for 2026.
Time to Write is open to pupils in Years 3-11 and invites young writers to submit stories inspired by a given theme.
The theme for 2026 is:
We are excited to see what “thread” inspires young people to write about. This single word has endless possibilities, inviting writers to explore the connections, stories and ideas that weave through their imaginations.
Why enter Time to Write?
Now in its third year, Time to Write continues to celebrate creativity and storytelling by inspiring young writers to craft stories of their own. Schools can engage with the competition in many ways, from embedding it into the English curriculum to using it for homework as part of extra-curricular projects.
Winners in each category will see their stories transformed into beautifully illustrated books, with additional prizes awarded to their schools.
Submissions details
The entry form will go live on 6 November 2025, and will run until 1 February 2026, giving schools and pupils plenty of time to prepare and submit their stories. You can view the entry criteria and guidelines here to start planning your submissions.
