Food Technology: Starting Cookery and Nutrition at Your School

Would you like to add Cookery and Nutrition to your school’s curriculum but lack the necessary facilities? This course is designed to help you get started, even with limited resources. You’ll learn how to run a successful program using portable cooking equipment like induction hobs, air fryers, and toaster ovens, while teaching essential health and safety skills. The program includes two practical cooking sessions: the first in the morning, followed by a break and a guest speaker on what the advantages of having cookery and nutrition in primary schools. After lunch, participants will engage in a second practical session, creating easy, healthy dishes while building confidence in the kitchen. By the end of the course, we hope you will feel more confident in starting cookery and nutrition in your school. You will be equipped with practical skills, lesson plans, and advice on how to use portable equipment in the absence of full cooking facilities, ensuring you’re ready to launch a successful program.
