Innovation in education

7 November 2024 (times tbc) Subject Clifton College, Bristol, BS8 3HE

Join Ben Edmonds and Aaron Patching from Inventor Club, who believe in creating the problem solvers of the future that are able to solve complex, open-ended challenges where the outcome is unknown. Ben is an ex-principal engineer from Dyson and Aaron is a senior school leader, together they demonstrate the importance of closely integrating industry knowledge with proven pedagogy. Ben and Aaron will question the validity of current teaching methods within the digital age, such as does our current system prepare students for work or to pass exams? Do current classrooms truly reflect the times? And how can we implement quick, easy changes to improve the student experience.

Ben and Aaron will also be breaking down AI to help demystify this new technology for education, by explaining what it is and how it works to give you greater confidence in its use, reduce staff workload and improve student outcomes. Finally, they will explore practical strategies to implement approaches to develop problem solvers, self-managers, collaborators and tech literacy with respect to the WEC 2025 core skills.
