About us

Set in over 45 acres of beautiful grounds on the outskirts of Cobham, and just a few minutes from the A3, the school provides a stimulating environment in which boys can learn, grow and develop.

We focus on providing an education that allows the boys to make the most of their abilities, interests and talents so that they will progress to senior schools as confident and independent individuals, with a joy of learning. We seek to develop children academically, socially and physically, while drawing out their capacity for compassion, generosity and understanding. This is largely achieved by staff and senior pupils modelling these qualities themselves to the younger ones.

At Parkside we believe that children learn best when they are happy, active and challenged; so we keep them active and we challenge them! We are uniquely geared to being able to accept children at a variety of ages and deliver them effectively to a range of senior schools, confident and well-prepared for their future. You only need to visit for a short time to see the enthusiasm of the children in lessons and around the school. The only way to really appreciate the kind of school we are is to come and see us for yourself – we would be happy to meet you.

PRESS RELEASE

Parkside School welcomed the First Secretary of State and Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab to their 45 acre grounds. The MP for Esher and Walton visited this independent school for boys on Friday 14th May to attend the morning assembly. Boys from Parkside’s Eco, Food, Digital Leaders and School Council Committees gathered in the magnificent Salon to quiz Mr Raab. As decision makers within the School, the boys discussed matters important to them; such as the environment, racism and cyber crime. The Foreign Secretary gave an insight into his childhood, political life and his job, including the best and worst elements. Common ethae with the School were discovered in terms of the importance of team work, gentlemanly conduct and taking risks in order to learn from mistakes.

Mr Raab stated “It was great to visit Parkside School on Friday. I was impressed by the curiosity the pupils showed through their questions, and by the resilience they and their teachers have demonstrated throughout the pandemic. I look forward to visiting again soon.”

The assembly was followed by coffee and tea with the Head, Ms Nicole Janssen, Deputy Head, Madeline McMurdo and Mr Robin Southwell, Chair of Governors. It was a good opportunity to discuss the positive outcomes from Covid.

Mr Raab was taken on a School tour by the Head Boy, Benjamin Cheeseman and Deputy Head Boy, Charlie Scott. The tour included a visit to the School’s extensive facilities including Stem IT suite, Design & Technology Workshop, Food Tech Kitchens, sports facilities, playgrounds and state of the art Science Lab. Mr Raab spoke to many boys and even tried his hand at piano in the music room.

Ms Janssen, Head of Parkside said “It was important for the boys to meet and understand the people running the country and to ask their extremely relevant questions. It was equally important for Mr Raab to hear their comments and questions and understand what drives our future leaders of tomorrow. Mr Raab offered excellent advice to the boys and painted a fascinating picture of politics today”

Parkside officially opened the doors of their brand new STEM-IT room with boys, staff and parents! A fantastic facility for our boys to explore and learn new skills, try out new tools and expand their learning! The facility allows for the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and IT to work collaboratively in innovative ways. The zone is an inspiring, forward-thinking environment that can be utilised by all Parkside boys and staff. With donations from the parent committee and 'Old Boys Association' we have been able to install cutting edge laptops, 3D printers and vinyl sticker machines.

During a formal event a selection of boys launched the room in conjunction with parents, governors and staff and officially cut the ribbon. This will be a fantastic space for our pupils to be exposed to the new world of Technology.
