About us
Sherborne Prep is a leading independent day and boarding school, welcoming girls and boys from 3 to 13 years old (boarding from 7 - 13 years old). The school is five minutes’ walk from the centre of the thriving town of Sherborne and sits in 12 acres of beautiful grounds. Sherborne Prep enjoys excellent transport links with a direct train to London Waterloo and several nearby airports.
About the school
As a co-educational independent school, the curriculum is broad, varied and stimulating, with specialist teachers supporting and stretching pupils within sports, languages, and music. The school follows the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate, which is a creative curriculum designed for children to develop key skills and achievements in preparation for their senior schools. The strong academic programme is supported by outdoor learning within a 22-acre site in Sherborne Castle ground.
Sherborne Prep is part of Sherborne School Group, sitting with Sherborne School and Sherborne Newell Grange (formerly Sherborne International), under the same governance. Dr Dominic Luckett is CEO of the Sherborne Group and Mrs Annie Gent was appointed the Head in January 2023.
The school’s Dragon Values are perseverance, honesty, kindness, generosity, awareness, and independence and these are embedded within the school and reinforced through academic schemes of work and pastoral systems.
Most pupils join in Pre-Prep or Year 3 but children are welcome to join all year groups, providing space is available. Scholarships are available and boarding starts from Year 3, with pupils moving onto well-known independent senior schools.
