Awarded ‘Independent Preparatory School of the Decade 2022’ by The Sunday Times and ‘The Best Prep School for Academic Results’ in The Week magazine 2023, the Junior School at Guildford High School is a lively, happy place, which aims to build a foundation of confidence, skills and a love of learning. The school has an excited and engaged community – playing, learning, questioning and laughing together.

The Junior School is located next door to the Senior School and shares its outstanding facilities, whilst Senior School staff teach the girls in some subjects. Pupils receive a first-class education and first-class care from four years old until they leave us at 11. Parents and teachers work closely together to ensure excellent differentiation and a nurturing environment with strong pastoral care before the girls progress naturally to the Senior School without an additional entrance exam.

There are around 280 girls in the Junior School, with two classes per year group. Families tend to live within a short drive or within walking distance of the school. The school balances the pursuit of excellence with full participation and everyone takes a full and active part in the school community, while individual talents are nurtured so that each girl develops her personal strengths and aptitudes.
