Maltman’s Green appoints new Headmistress

Maltman’s Green School, Gerrards Cross, announces the appointment of Mrs Ashmi Morjaria, as their new Headmistress. Mrs Morjaria will be leading the school from the start of the summer term, following the retirement of Mrs Jill Walker, who had been in post for six years. The popular girls’ prep school recently announced record senior school scholarship offers for their Year 6 cohort, alongside an exceptional 11+ pass rate of 78%.

Ashmi Morjaria, Headmistress: “I am delighted to build on the outstanding foundations Mrs Walker leaves and to honour the legacy she has created at Maltman’s. The school is a thriving, values-driven community and I look forward to working with its exceptional staff, to continue strengthening our academic ambition, pastoral care and pioneering spirit. Above all, I am committed to ensuring Maltman’s remains a powerful example of why a girls-only education matters — not just for our pupils, but for society as a whole. Research shows that by the age of nine, around 70% of girls in single-sex schools feel confident taking risks, compared with fewer than half of girls in co-educational settings. I want every girl who leaves Maltman’s to do so with a strong sense of her worth, confidence in her voice, and belief in her limitless potential.”

Mrs Morjaria brings with her a wealth of senior leadership experience and a deep commitment to girls’ education. Previously Deputy Head Academic at Northwood College for Girls, Mrs Morjaria brings over 15 years’ experience in spearheading curriculum reform, driving whole school improvement and embedding coaching cultures that create lasting, meaningful impact. Most recently, she has worked as a Trust Consultant across 26 schools, fostering collaboration, leading senior leadership conferences and driving excellence at scale.

Diana Honey, Chair of Governors: “We are delighted that Ashmi is joining Maltman’s Green as our new Headmistress. Ashmi has demonstrated a record of outstanding leadership in education in her previous role as Deputy Head Academic at Northwood college and is passionate about girls’ education. She has a deep commitment to academic excellence and ensuring that all pupils are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. As a member of the North London Schools Consortium 11+ Working Party, Ashmi brings to Maltman’s an invaluable understanding of the evolving expectations around senior school admissions and the qualities that leading independent schools look for in applicants. We look forward to working closely together to ensure the continuing success of Maltman’s girls and their transition to a wide range of leading secondary schools."

Maltman’s Green School is proud to announce that it has met all statutory standards in the recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, conducted in March 2025. The comprehensive report praises the school’s strong leadership, high-quality teaching, and outstanding pastoral care, underscoring Maltman’s commitment to providing an inclusive, supportive, and well-rounded education.

The ISI inspectors described Maltman’s Green’s leadership as “visible, knowledgeable, reflective and strategic,” noting how the school’s ethos of Better Never Ends is deeply embedded in daily routines, decision-making, and long-term planning.
