National Conference for Heads of Cricket in Prep Schools
The landscape of prep school cricket is thriving in both the girls and boys format of the game. On the whole, the girls are being coached soft ball cricket and learning the basics techniques of batting, bowling and fielding. Some schools with more advanced programmes, are transitioning girls towards the hard ball game. The majority of Prep school boys move towards hard ball cricket and play variations of the game using different balls and equipment to ensure players are coached in a safe environment.
This new Prep School Cricket Conference equips inexperienced teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to introduce players to soft ball cricket, and prepares more experienced coaches to transition towards hard ball cricket. With a choice of mixed ability sessions (both
practical and theory) this conference is suitable for all Prep school teachers and coaches regardless of their coaching experience. This Conference seeks to support the different dimensions and challenges of coaching Prep school cricket to keep sessions fun, engaging and dealing with mixed ability groups playing both formats of the game.
