About us

The school has a rural feel, yet is close to the centre of a busy town, and is just half an hour from Heathrow Airport.

Godstowe is a remarkable school in many ways. For more than 100 years, girls have been enjoying a quality of education which is among the very best you will find. Discerning parents have opted to send their daughters (and sons too, in the pre-prep) because they have been extremely impressed with what they see and with what they hear about the school.

Children do not sit an entrance exam and yet Godstowe consistently achieves unrivalled academic results – 21 scholarships were awarded in 2009 and all leavers joined their first choice senior school. A small number also joined Buckinghamshire’s excellent grammar schools. But Godstowe is not an academic ‘hot-house’. Children are happy and confident, polite and considerate. It is through innovative teaching ideas, a young and dynamic staff and first-rate facilities and grounds that they thrive and succeed.

Every week over 50 ‘Enrichment Curriculum’ activities are available to try inclusive of fees. Children gain confidence on the 40-foot indoor climbing wall or during a fencing match, and this confidence spills over into the classroom. They can let off steam racing remote-controlled cars, relax in yoga or expand their minds in philosophy club. Supervised homework sessions are also available, as well as a supper and breakfast club.

Girls joining Godstowe’s boarding community can be sure of a safe, homely and happy environment. They enjoy a fun-packed weekend schedule in comfortable, refurbished accommodation.

OFSTED put Godstowe’s nursery and Early Years classes at the top level in every category of inspection. The boys and girls in the pre-prep thrive in a colourful and nurturing environment that widens their horizons and instils in them a love of learning.

Appointments to view the school can be made at any time, and informal Open Mornings are held each term. Please contact the Registrar, Mrs Cathy Gainer more information.
