About us

Set within 22 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, Manor Lodge is an independent co-educational primary school in Shenley for children aged 3 to 11. Every aspect of the school’s environment has been carefully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. The school believes passionately that children learn best through hands on experience and most importantly, through play.

Their results speak for themselves. By Year 6, Manor Lodge pupils are, on average, six years ahead in reading, while more than 90% achieve above-average scores in standardised maths assessments. Academic excellence is a given, but Manor Lodge is about so much more.

Pupils can be found tending well-stocked allotments, collecting eggs from the busy chicken coop, exploring the school's pond and enjoying pond-dipping activities, or cooking over open fires in canopy classrooms. There are mindfulness gardens for reading, reflection and relaxation, as well as countless opportunities for discovery throughout the school day.

As one Year 3 pupil explains:

"At Manor Lodge you learn, but not just in class, you can learn anywhere."

We passionately believe that every child deserves a magical childhood. We are not defined by tradition, but by what we do next. We lead with purpose, growing a strong, thriving community of families who share our belief in placing childhood at the centre of everything we do. This is what makes Manor Lodge truly exceptional.
