An IAPS member school has been selected as the top choice for sport by an acclaimed national guide

An IAPS member school has been selected as the top choice for sport by an acclaimed national guide after claiming championship wins in two sports last year.

Taunton Prep, which won the IAPS under-13 boys’ hockey and cricket competitions, came out top in the annual survey of the best prep schools in the country undertaken by ‘The Week’ magazine.

The school is described as ‘excelling across the board’, with ‘a string of sporting accolades to its name’.

As well as the IAPS competitions, the school also won the English Schools Swimming Association freestyle relay, the under-13 girls won the independent schools’ West of England hockey championship and two boys were declared world champions in the biathle and triathle.

The magazine also mentions other successes in rugby, cross-country, athletics, shooting, golf and riding as well as the students, some as young as 12, who swam the English Channel last summer to help save a local community pool from closure.

Deputy head Chris Coleman said: “This is a wonderful testament that celebrates the exceptional dedication of the prep school staff at Taunton Prep, who tirelessly strive to help each student achieve their full potential.”
