When does it take place?

The netball competitions take place in the Spring term.

Age groups

Age groups

U11, U12 and U13 tournaments.
All age groups must consist of girls only. 
This is in accordance with the NGB's rules and regulations.

2022/23 finals

U11 - Friday, 17 March at Rugby School
U12 - Thursday, 16 March at Ipswich School
U13 - Monday, 13 March at Bryanston School 

Eligibility

Pupils can only participate in one age group throughout the competition. The competition is defined as both qualifying events and the finals.

Umpiring at IAPS events

Qualifiers

Schools must provide a competent and confident umpire, unless otherwise advised.

Finals

At all finals, where possible, neutral umpires will be provided.

Schools should be prepared to provide an umpire for the finals.

Competitor details
Once you have booked, you will be asked to provide some details about your competitors before the event. In line with GDPR, only essential information is collected in order to be able to organise the sports event.

 

U11

Further to England Netball's press release around the re-launch of Bee Netball for 5-9yr olds, and the effect this will have on our U11 programme, they have confirmed that this is a targeted promotion on that specific age group and Bee netball will be continuing as the recommended format for all netball activity for those aged 5-11.

As a result of this, and in line with our principles of following NGB guidance, our U11 netball competitions will continue to follow the Stinger stage of Bee netball.

For events in the Autumn term, bookings will open during the Summer term preceding it.
For events in the Spring term, bookings will open during the Autumn term.
For events in the Summer term, bookings will open during the Spring term.

Team size

There will be 5 players on court at one time.
Squads must have a minimum of 7 players.
Size 4 balls will be used.
Posts will be 9ft.

Entry

Teams across all age groups must consist of girls only.
This is in accordance with the NGB's rules and regulations.
Once a venue is full you can join the waiting list and/or book for an alternative venue.

Qualifying for the finals

Schools must enter a regional qualifier in order to qualify for the finals.
The number of teams qualifying for the finals is determined by IAPS based on the total number of entries and qualifying events.

U12

2022/2023 competition

This is a standalone event to increase participation.

Only year 7 pupils are eligible for this event and they cannot play in both the U12 and U13 events.

Team size

All teams must be 7-a-side.
Squads can be made up of a maximum of 10 players.
Size 5 balls will be used.
Posts will be 10ft.

Small schools (U11)

This competition will follow the England Netball Bee Netball programme at Stinger stage.

For events in the Summer term, bookings will open during the Spring term.

Championship format

This tournament is a stand alone championships.
The winners of the tournament will be invited to the U11 National Finals. N.B. after 2023 the winners of the small schools will not be invited to the finals. Schools will need to enter a netball qualifier to be eligible to qualify for the finals. 

Team size

There will be 5 players on court at one time.
Squads must have a minimum of 7 players.
Size 4 balls will be used.
Posts will be 9ft.
Schools must have less than 30 girls in years 5 & 6 combined.
This is in line with the small school rugby competition.
You will be asked to confirm the number of pupils at your school in years' 5 & 6 on the booking form.

All teams must be 7-a-side.
Squads can be made up of a maximum of 10 players.

Posts will be 10ft.
Schools must have less than 30 girls in years 7 & 8 combined.
This is in line with the small school rugby competition.
You will be asked to confirm the number of pupils at your school in years' 7 & 8 on the booking form.

Rules and regulations

The national governing body for netball in England is England Netball.

All IAPS netball tournaments are conducted under the International Netball Federation rules and regulations, including their ruling on gender splits within tournaments. Netball is played in accordance with EN and/or INF rules and regulations is to be single sex. Please read the rules and regulations in full before entering the event.
